The Great Outdoors

As I've gotten older, I have had more of a taste for outdoor activities. I'm

not sure if it's because of my wife, kids or the lack of time but I'm feeling it

for outdoor activity. I know it may be because I grew up in Maine where it has 4

solid seasons with winter being the longest and dominant, however, when I left Maine

I had no interest in the outdoors unless it was a beach with a tropical drink.

So what has changed?

Lets analyze that for a second by listing the things I like to do (not in any

particular order).

1. Ski or snowboard

2. Hike

3. Long casual walks

4. Football

5. Soccer

7. Biking

9. Swimming

10. Barbicues

I could go on and on.... So now I know why I like the outdoors so much. But I

couldn't enjoy all of this if I had ailments that kept me from doing these

ACTIVITIES. As usual it all goes back to exercise. We need to condition our

bodies to be active or we will not be able to do the things we enjoy without

hurting ourself. Yes, I have considered aging but that should not stop anyone

from being active no matter what age.

*I just saw a story on the news of a 72 year old man who went back to college

and is playing college basket ball for the university.

*I read an article of a 60 something year old woman who runs marathons

*I have the pleasure of knowing a woman in her late seventies who travels around the world

riding bike tours.  People there are many more stories out there to inspire all of us and

all we have to do is get and stay active. Be in charge and gradually get into the groove

and move.

Until next time.

Get Active,

Dave
